Liz Garland 

 

Originally hailing from the Dorset countryside, Liz studied at the prestigious Birmingham School of Acting for 3 years. Since graduating Liz has worked in all areas of the industry from stage to TV work, voiceover to improvisation. She has co written 2 sitcom pilots, written, produced and starred in numerous sketches with The Barbara Invasions and has been commissioned to adapt several plays for children and young people, of which she was also asked to direct. She is currently writing a short film about the nation's obsession with beauty. Always keen to encourage the next generation Liz also coaches young people drama at various schools where she is fondly known as 'Miss!!'.

Liz Hollis


After completing a foundation course at LAMDA, Liz then trained at The Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts graduating with a BA Hons in Acting. Liz developed her passion for teaching at Hampton Hill Theatre School where she taught both drama and singing for a number of years. As well as being a LAMDA for Rocket Boots, she also teaches at Dulwich College and Putney High School. Aside from working on examinations,  Liz runs a drama club at Wimbledon Common Prep School and directs for ‘Act’- a group of bright young things based at Streatham and Clapham High.  ‘It is so rewarding to see children developing confidence through drama- the skills that are learnt are carried throughout life’. Liz also dabbles in a bit of comedy writing and has performed her work at the Brighton Comedy Festival and London's Arts Theatre. 

Rebekah Manning

 

Rebekah is an actress and drama facilitator who trained with the National Youth Theatre and at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. Rebekah is passionate about working with young people; preparing students for LAMDA exams, leading workshops in Drama and performance and directing productions. She also trains young people in interview techniques. Theatre credits include Saturday Night and Sunday Morning (Harrogate Theatre and Oldham Coliseum), Street Trilogy (Theatre Absolute UK tour), Eskimo Sisters (Pleasance Theatre Stagespace), The BFG (Bolton Octagon), Atishoo! (Dynamic New Animation UK tour) and Kid (Edinburgh Pleasance and Coventry Belgrade), The Life & Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby (Lyric Theatre, Hammersmith and The Lowry Theatre, Manchester. TV credits include The Chase, Murphy's Law, Rocketman, Holby City and Doctors (BBC), Secret Life (Channel 4/Kudos), The Royle and A&E (ITV), Foyle's War (Greenlit Prod), Wire in the Blood (Coastal Prod). Rebekah is an associate artist with the cutting edge theatre company Theatre Absolute and the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain. 

Sylvie-Anne Taylor

 

Sylvie-Anne trained at Central School of Speech and Drama, she has a BA degree in Performing Arts and an MA in Classical Acting. Since training she has performed on stages up and down the country in everything from Shakespeare to Pantomime. Her credits include Peaseblossom in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Ben Gunn in Treasure Island, Natalya Stepanovna in The Proposal, Alice in Alice in Wonderland and one third of an Andrews Sister's style harmony group. As a teacher Sylvie-Anne has taught in schools, after school clubs, theatre schools and private classes. She also creates and runs workshops in collaboration with many West End Shows including Billy Elliott, Wicked, 39 steps and the Mousetrap.

Matt Straw

 

Matt has trained at The London School of Musical Theatre, Trinity College of

Music and with the National Youth Theatre. Theatre Credits include: Gobbo in The

Merchant of Venice (UK/China Tour), Eadric in Silence (UK Tour) and Leo Silver

in My Favorite Year (Bridewell Theatre). Matt was lucky enough to sing the

National Anthem at the closing ceremony of the Beijing Olympics in the Birds

nest stadium. Since graduating Matt has developed a passion for teaching drama.

As well as his work for Rocket Boots, he currently teaches Drama at The Barbara Speake Stage School, Jigsaw Performing Arts, Cavendish Lodge and has previously taught for Let Me Play and D&B Theatre School. Matt loves his sport and has developed a passion for teaching sport sessions in schools specializing in Nurseries and Pre-schools.

 

The team of Rocket Boots Theatre Teachers and Practitioners are all performers and creators who have a passion and desire to instill the art of theatre in young people. We teach in a number of Prep Schools across South London.
